Last week started off with cold temps again. It was a bit of a rude awakening since Thursday of the prior week had me in shorts and sandals. Sigh. Back to boots and leggings...  One of my students had a birthday and she brought a new "friend" with her to piano lessons. I loved where she placed him! It was rather hilarious to look up there and see a stuffed animal peeking out between her music.  HA!  Wednesday I wore my #pearlsforbarbara to honor the life of our former First Lady.  And I also snacked on the most DELICIOUS sugar cookie from Mary Lou's! If you're from around here you know that Mary Lou's has seriously good doughnuts. but I had no idea they had cookies and other items! Until a student told me! I thought he had the name of the shop wrong. HA! Alas he was correct on the name and also correct on their deliciousness. I regretted only buying two.  Thursday was an exciting mail day. Yes, that is a lazy neck cell phone holder, ...

Any guesses where I started off my day at? The Dentist! And, It snowed. Seems about right for my life. Thankfully nothing terrible happened at the Dentist this time, I just needed a refill of my antibiotics and the Dentist gave me a steroid for the inflammation, since I can't take NSAIDS. (Allergic) So I got up an hour and a half earlier than normal to be ready for the dentist and then my first two students cancelled from sickness. SO I got a lot of stuff done! I took my first steroid pill in the afternoon and was teaching and was still tired and thought, oh these aren't making me as awake as they usually do. Then 8:00 pm hits, my last students leave and I think, hmm.. I think I'll tackle and clean my mess of a laundry room. .......................................................................................................................... I think they were effective. So effective that I didn't fall asleep until 3:45 am...

Drab to Fab Makeover-New Chair

In the past 6 months or so, I have been slowly working on re doing my living room. It started with getting rid of my huge entertainment center, and painting my new free at the curb, sofa table. (If I was a good blogger I'd link to that post but I'm not, so you can just search!) The next step was getting rid of my love seat and replacing it with a comfy chair to sit and read in. Around Labor Day weekend I saw this chair posted on craigslist, FOR FREE!!!!! Free is basically my favorite word, next to chocolate, and pizza. So I jumped on it! Even though the chair had broken leather in places I could see it's potential! So I went and met a lady and picked up this chair on the way home to my parents for the weekend. My mom LOVES it when I bring home surprise furniture. (Note the Sarcasm) While I was home, my Mom told me she had some fabric for recovering furniture she was going to get rid of. She showed it to me and I thought it was perfectly ...

Dumpster Divin': Drab to Fab Living Room Makeover Part One

For awhile now I had been thinking that I wanted to replace my large entertainment armoire in my living room with a Sofa Table. Only those things are EXPENSIVE. Even on craigslist, they were more money than what I wanted to pay. It sounds crazy but I began praying that I could fine one for a decent price. It wasn't something I desperately needed, so I knew that I couldn't justify spending much on it. Until one day in August I was driving home after an Allergy shot, and passed by a wooden stand out for trash by the road. I turned around and came back for it, because even though it looked bad at the time, in my head I had a vision! I am SO glad I stopped and got it! My Vision went perfectly and it was even easier than I thought! Let me tell you, trying to get it into the back of my truck was slightly awkward! I took these pics after I unloaded it to show to Mom and Audra. I had to laugh when my Mom emailed back with something along the lines of it's going t...
