This week the dear, sweet Cara spoke to us about having Living Room Intimacy and like she always does she forced us to go deeper and really look at our hearts and this time our relationship with God.
I love it when she teaches us because she is so REAL and Genuine and she always has us do table time and its a really neat time where we're able to connect with our table mates and hear what is on their hearts. One of the things i enjoy about our bible study is the wide range of ages, and life experiences. Its wonderful.
I wish I had taken a sheet home with the questions she had us answer. One of them was whats standing in the way of us spending time with God? My answer, Internet! I'm not on it all day, I come home after work and want to unwind, so I check my email, facebook-because heaven forbid i miss someone's status! then we're off to the blogs, pccb, twitter and a celebrity gossip sight JUST FOR GOOD MEASURE!! Before I know it I have wasted a big amount of time!
I was really challenged by that and something that Pastor Whips said the Sunday before (its really awesome/funny how some things he is speaking about coincide with what we're studying!) Its been almost two weeks so forgive me Pastor Whips for paraphrasing, but he said something along the lines of Do you picture God on the throne or do you picture him sitting next to you where you are every second of the day.
If you're like me you're thinking Well on the THRONE OF COURSE!! He's God!! um, yeah but he's also right beside me!! So I've really been trying to be concious of the fact that Jesus is right beside me every step of the day. And trust me that can reaaaalllllyyyyy change how you react to some situations when you think about that!
Another thing that has helped me, and especially in my prayer time, I've really been trying to talk to him like he is my best friend, and sometimes its just easier to picture him when I call him Jesus. I have the tenancy to call him Lord in my prayers, but calling him Jesus, I don't know, it just does something to me! It makes it more personal I think.
Cara ended the night by having us really get down to the nitty gritty and examine where our relationship and walk was with God at the moment. We really had to be honest with ourselves and with eachother and it was just a great time of sharing at our table.
I can't wait to see what goes on tomorrow!!
