#ChooseJoy #JoyGivers365 Weeks 35-39

So it's been a little while since I've updated. Life has been busy, and I have been struggling with my ongoing chronic health issues, (which is nothing new)

It seems that I always get brilliant ideas on blog posts while I am laying in bed trying to fall asleep. I feel like I should get one of those voice notes recorders so I can record my blogs before I completely forget them! Sidenote, back in the 90's and early 2000's I totally had a mini tape deck that you could record things with. #oldladystatus #wishistillhadit

Anyways, on to the post!

Lately I have been looking for ways to spread the joy. I've been trying to find nice things to do to surprise people and make them feel special.

Last week I had my normal monthly concert at a Retirement Home on their Alzheimer's unit. I cannot say enough about the staff there. They are EXCELLENT! If I had a loved one that's where I would want them to go. I have been there when they have had hard days, but despite whatever is thrown at them they always treat the residents with so much care, respect, and gentleness. Love in action truly.

I wanted to do something nice for them, so I decided to bake them treats. Because really, who doesn't love chocolate? I've been on a small mission to try out my pinterest recipes and thought that baking things and then gifting them to people who didn't expect it would be a really fun way to be a #JoyGiver. I made some super yummy Chocolate Chip Cookie bars and then cut then up and bagged them in baggies. Not the fanciest presentation, but I knew that they needed to be portable and something they could put in their scrubs pockets. So Baggies it was!!

This is a short post, but next time I will share my thoughts on having a Ministry while struggling with a chronic illness. Riveting, I know! Stay tuned!

This week was rather lackluster, because I came down with a sickness on Monday and was down for the count Monday and Tuesday. I was super annoyed, because I had not taken a sick day since May and I was really trying to make it to 2019 without that happening! Boo!  My new coffee maker came in the mail, and it is so cute! It's like a miniature coffee maker, only makes 4 cups. It's adorable.  My nephew's 4'th Birthday present came as well. And I was a little concerned at the size of the box. Thankfully it wasn't as large as it appeared, but still a decent size!  Wednesday I rejoined life after being sick and ran out to get some free stix from Hotbox pizza and look what I saw!!!! A New DD is coming much closer to my house!! OH I was SO EXCITED!!!!!!  That afternoon I was working on getting all of my Christmas tubs brought inside from the shed, so I could decorate on the weekend. Then I had some cancellations and decided to start. I got the Piano room ...

Blue Monday!

Today's Festive Blue Monday outfit! I wore my tried and true trouser jeans, a short sleeved beaded top I got on clearance at Macy's of all places for 6 bucks!! And my awesome new jeweled flats! Sooo comfy and cute! Since it was in the 60's today I was able to get away with this warmer weather outfit! Beading on the top, I love it! Shoes, so ugly they are cute!!

Book Review: The Last Dance you Saved by LJ Evans

Buckle Up Buttercup, because Sadie Hatley is finally getting her story!!!! And it did not disappoint at all! The only thing I didn't like about this book is that it ended. I could have kept reading for 1000 more pages.  L.J. Evans is a Masterclass in how to write Romantic Suspense (that's not so scary you can't sleep at night) with witty banter, heroines who kick butt (figuratively and literally). Her books are full of real people with real problems. And I think that's one of the things I appreciate the most about her writing. Yes, her books are an escape for me, but they also show that whatever you're going through in life, everyone else is also going through something.  In the case of Sadie and Rafe alot of those issues they contained to themselves and kept the hurt and pain inside of them, in order to be strong for others and what they thought they needed to be. But L.J. shows us that not only is it okay to let people in, but the beauty and redemption that come...
