Book Review: An Uncommon Courtship by Kristi Ann Hunter- YOU NEED THIS BOOK!!!!!

 I.LOVED.THIS.BOOK.

Period.

I found myself reading this way past my bedtime, and then contemplating getting up EARLY so I could read before I had to teach. Considering my love of sleep and hatred for mornings this should tell you how GOOD this book was!!!

This book centers around a couple who is forced into marriage, without knowing each other or really having met but one time. It's set back in the early 1800's in England, and focuses on the younger Hawthorne brother, Trent.  I love books like these, were strangers or people who barely know each other have to get married and then you eventually watch them fall in love. I think especially since something like this would never happen in our day and time, it's even more fascinating.

This book went back and forth between Adelaide and Trent's point of view, and it was so well done! Usually it's hard to go back and forth between two different minds but the author did such a great job, it was seamless.

One thing I wasn't expecting about this book; It was funny!!!!! I laughed out loud numerous times, and I'll just tell you right now that Chapter 26 had me LITERALLY Slapping My Knee in laughter! (Apparently i'm an 80 yr old Grandpa) I found the characters very relateable because the things they were thinking and the awkwardness was completely things that I would think! I appreciate characters in books that aren't cookie cutter. The Author really had a way of making them real, NORMAL people. And I loved that!

This is the 3'rd book in the Hawthorne series but it can completely be read as a stand alone. However you won't want to! I loved this book so much that even more I finished it I was on my Library's website placing holds on the two previous books in the series, and the bonus Prequel Novella. I read all 4 in less than a week, and honestly was sad to say goodbye to the characters!

I really REAAAALLLLLYYYYY hope Ms. Hunter is busy writing lots more books because I just feel in love with her writing!

Thanks Bethany House for providing me a free book in exchange for my totally honest opinions, and for introducing me to one of my new favorite Authors!

For Everyone else reading, if you haven't read this book, go out and get a copy! And get all of the others in the series as well! You won't regret it! And if you live near me, I'm happy to loan you mine!

Happy Reading!!

This week was rather lackluster, because I came down with a sickness on Monday and was down for the count Monday and Tuesday. I was super annoyed, because I had not taken a sick day since May and I was really trying to make it to 2019 without that happening! Boo!  My new coffee maker came in the mail, and it is so cute! It's like a miniature coffee maker, only makes 4 cups. It's adorable.  My nephew's 4'th Birthday present came as well. And I was a little concerned at the size of the box. Thankfully it wasn't as large as it appeared, but still a decent size!  Wednesday I rejoined life after being sick and ran out to get some free stix from Hotbox pizza and look what I saw!!!! A New DD is coming much closer to my house!! OH I was SO EXCITED!!!!!!  That afternoon I was working on getting all of my Christmas tubs brought inside from the shed, so I could decorate on the weekend. Then I had some cancellations and decided to start. I got the Piano room ...

Blue Monday!

Today's Festive Blue Monday outfit! I wore my tried and true trouser jeans, a short sleeved beaded top I got on clearance at Macy's of all places for 6 bucks!! And my awesome new jeweled flats! Sooo comfy and cute! Since it was in the 60's today I was able to get away with this warmer weather outfit! Beading on the top, I love it! Shoes, so ugly they are cute!!

Book Review: The Last Dance you Saved by LJ Evans

Buckle Up Buttercup, because Sadie Hatley is finally getting her story!!!! And it did not disappoint at all! The only thing I didn't like about this book is that it ended. I could have kept reading for 1000 more pages.  L.J. Evans is a Masterclass in how to write Romantic Suspense (that's not so scary you can't sleep at night) with witty banter, heroines who kick butt (figuratively and literally). Her books are full of real people with real problems. And I think that's one of the things I appreciate the most about her writing. Yes, her books are an escape for me, but they also show that whatever you're going through in life, everyone else is also going through something.  In the case of Sadie and Rafe alot of those issues they contained to themselves and kept the hurt and pain inside of them, in order to be strong for others and what they thought they needed to be. But L.J. shows us that not only is it okay to let people in, but the beauty and redemption that come...
