Remember when it was January and I said I was going to blog more this year?
Well, it's now December, and I haven't blogged since January so clearly that goal went out the window.
BUT! I am here blogging today to share something I'm passionate about! And that is SAVING MONEY! And spending the least amount of money on things. Listen, the lower the price of something is, the more I like it. I was waxing poetic about this subject to a friend on Marco Polo this week and decided that I felt the need to share it with the world. So, world, (or the three people who read my blog) You're Welcome.
Sidenote: These are just some of the ways I stretch my dollars and get money back from purchases. Some of these have referral codes that if you join from them I get some sort of a reward, and some don't have codes, or I'm just not cool enough to know where to find them. Use the code, don't use the code, but please, Save yourself some money! I feel *quite* strongly about being thrifty and if you know me IRL you know that I am the Garage Sale/Goodwill Queen. But that's a whole 'nother post! And with my track record it will be 11 months from now when I get to that one.
1. Upside (App)
I am new to Upside, a friend told me about it earlier this year and I joined in April. Since then I've made ten purchases with Upside and I've already gotten back 35.62! I mainly use Upside for Gas, Circle K seems to have the best gas prices and the most money back from your purchase. For instance, last week I spent 34 filling up my gas tank and I got 4 dollars and some odd cents back. I noticed when I was looking in the app that they also have added a lot of new restaurants, like McDonalds, Applebee's and Coldstone Creamery. (And Possibly Dunkin, I need to check to verify that!) Using it is super easy, just click on what offer you want to claim and then go buy gas or food etc in the 3 hour time frame then click you've paid. Sometimes you have to upload a receipt, other times it just pulls it from the universe, I don't know.
Right now Upside has a promo going for the first time a new user gets gas you (and I) get a one time 7.00 bonus. They had this going on when I first signed up, and that's what sealed the deal for me! That and not wanting to have to drive across town to Sam's to get the lowest gas prices. IYKYK

2. Bing Rewards (Website and App)
I've been using bing for YEARS. I used to have a subscription to Hulu, and I never paid for my subscription with cash, I always used the giftcards I'd earn on Bing for my Hulu subscription. Now that I don't have Hulu I cash out my points into Amazon giftcards but there are many other options. Do your daily searches on your computer and your app, both together usually net around 550 points a day. It adds up really fast. You need 5,250 points for a 5.00 Amazon giftcard. The App also has a section where you can upload receipts. You can get money back based on what you purchase and every 6'th receipt you get a bonus. Today I got 50 cents, but again pennies make dollars! Doing the receipts takes seconds. Doing the searches doesn't take super long, 5 to 10 mins depending on how fast the internet/bing is that day. I multitask, and do it while I'm watching the news or waiting on my foundation to dry.
No referral code needed!
3. Receipt Hog (App)
I've been a member of RH since 2016 and since I've joined I've cashed out approximately 185.00.
It's also super easy to use, just scan your receipts, they have to be from the last 14 days. You get coins/points and entries into the monthly sweepstakes for more points. They also have a super fun slot machine that you can get spins on that will win you extra points. The great thing about RH is that you can upload your receipts on RH AND Bing! You can also link your email account, and amazon account and all kinds of other stores to RH and get bonus coins each month for having them linked. And then your online purchases also will get you coins!

4. Mypoints (Website)
I have been a member of Mypoints since I believe 1997!!! Heavens to Betsy I'm old. They send you a few emails a day that you can click on for 5 points but the real point getter is shopping online. Just go to their website, or you can install their extension and type in the search bar where you want to shop and then it will show you how many points per dollar you can get shopping there! Some places I get points back from are Walmart, usually 2 points per dollar, right now it's 5. Last week it was 15!! points per dollar. I also get points from shopping at ebay and Zenni optical.

My motto is 1. Spend as less money as possible and 2. If there's a way to get money back in any way shape or form DO IT.
These are just a few of the ways this Piano Teacher saves money. I would add that also using a debit card (No credit cards for us) that gives you points back on all purchases is also smart.
Happy Saving!
