So when we left off with last week's recap, I was regailing you with the tales of the extreme dental pain I was in. I had to suffer all of Monday before I could get in with the Dentist on Tuesday. Helpful with emergency apts, they are not.
I did manage to get a little bit of sleep on Monday night, and was up early and terrified Tuesday morning. I don't know why I was so scared, but I really was. I played "Lord I need you" on the piano before I left to try and calm myself down, I was walking around my house praying out loud, I was terrified! I think I was most worried they wouldn't be able to figure out what was wrong with me, that they wouldn't be able to fix it that day, or that they would and I would get sick from the numbing.
The last three times I have had dental work done I have gotten flu like symptoms from the numbing shots. The first two times were somewhat far apart, and both times I thought I just had food poisoning. I threw up over night but then was better. But the last time, oh the last time. They were putting my crown on and had to cut off something in my gums before they could place it. So they gave me a shot in my gums and it squirted into my mouth. I tried not to swallow it but it was hard to avoid it. Only a few hours later I was with a student and barely got her out the door before I was running into the bathroom to throw up. And I threw up for FIVE.DAYS. I was so sick. It was terrible! Maybe normal people would have bounced back quicker, but for my body with my chronic illness and Intestine issues, when I get sick it's very hard for my body to stop being sick, and bounce back to normal if you will.
So I was really worried that I would have the numbing again and get that sick, and I had things to do! Easter is the following weekend and I host it! And I really didn't want to be puking for 5 days straight again. But I somewhat resigned myself to that most likely happening and was planning on coming home from the dentist, vacuuming and setting out my blanket and pillow by the bathroom floor and getting all my puke buckets out, powerade, ect.
Well thankfully they think they know what was causing the sickness, and can avoid giving me that part of the shot. Not so thankfully they couldn't do anything for me at my apt. They did figure out what it was and gave me antibiotics, pain medication and a referral to an Endodontics Specialist.
Sigh....
Dentures are looking better and better.
Tuesday morning I was up bright and early and off to the dentist. Clearly it was put a little makeup on or do my hair. Makeup won. I left the office with nothing done to my teeth (I almost cried, seriously) A prescription for a pain med, and a prescription for an antibiotic, and a referral to a specialized dentist that I can neither pronounce or spell.
Wednesday I was really happy for the hiding power of makeup, some student cancellations, and orajel. lifesavers!
Saturday, yes Saturday, I got the table all set up for Easter Dinner! I was serving at Church that evening for an additional Easter service, and my Dad had to work the next morning so it worked perfectly to move our Easter celebration to Saturday night. We had a BBQ theme as I knew I needed something easy in the crockpot and I wouldn't have time to cook/bake things when I got home. So I did a Pulled Pork BBQ in the crock pot, potato salad, coleslaw, and broccoli salad, Mom made Deviled eggs and her pizza dip, and rolls, and Sarah #1 brought a Strawberry trifle dessert that I'm still dreaming about! It was delicious! Saturday was the first day that I wasn't in terrible pain all week. So it was really nice! I was getting to be in pain by the time I left church but my next dose of Tylenol and orajel helped greatly!
Rockin the heathered orange serving shirt before church!
We had a really pretty Easter backdrop set up for family pictures. Some people think it's odd, but I think it's really nice! We do it on major holidays, like Mother's Day, Christmas, Easter. If I'm serving I always have a volunteer over there taking pictures of families. People are usually dressed up and all together so it's nice for them to get a sometimes rare family picture!
I had a mix of volunteers, including Laura, who serves on my Team. So we had to take a serving picture together in front of the Easter sign. Can you see the easter sign? No. We tried! HA!
I boogied back home to meet my guests! Sarah #1 looks super short here but I had my selfie ring light on because it was dark! So she's kind of hiding from it. HA!
My parents! I love them, and our fun Easter dinners at my house! We are all going to miss our honorary family member Sarah #1 when she graduates from Purdue later this year. Cue the Sobs!
After the week I had, it was really nice to sleep in Sunday. And I was thankful I didn't go anywhere because that afternoon it started snowing. April 1'st. Easter. Snow.
And it kept snowing. I was emailing updates to my Mom and I think she thought I was exaggerating the amount of snow. But by the time I went to bed at 9:30 pm( hashtag old lady) it looked like we had more than the 1-3 inches the weather man said we would get. And it was still coming down hard.
I got up the next morning to a lot more snow.
I was really thankful that the ground had been warmer the week before so it didn't stick on the cement so no snow removal for me!
It was pretty.
But crazy for SPRING.
And how much did we get?
OVER 6 INCHES OF SNOW.
I still can't believe that.
I had to take a picture and send to my Mom and she was in disbelief!
Also, it was completely melted by later that day.
Also, it has snowed again since then.
Why, Indiana, WHY.
