Book Review: A Christmas by the Sea by Melody Carlson

My latest review is on a quick read by Melody Carlson. I have read many of her books, Back in the early 2000's she wrote a lot of christian chick lit that I loved. So i was excited when her name popped up on my monthly books to request email. This is a quick little read, at just a little over 160 pages. I read it in an entire evening. And still had time left over! Its a sweet story about a Mom and her teen son who are going back to where she spent summers with her grandparents. Her grandpa recently passed away and left her a cottage. She intends to fix it up quickly and sell it for some much needed income for her and her son. But of course it doesn't quite go that smoothly, and her son is desperate to live there. Add in a cute dog, some little girls who are neighbors that they befriend, a cute guy ( of course! ) and your requisite woman who thinks she has dibs on the aforementioned cute guy. It was a little predictable. But it was sweet and like I said, a fast little rea...

This probably could be entitled the week I drank a ton of coffee from Dunkin Donuts. SO really, not a bad week!  On Monday I started my week long project of making a wedding present for some dear friends that were getting married at the end of the week!  And somehow I never took any pictures until Thursday. Still blazingly hot outside, getting ready to teach a skype lesson.  Friday night I finished my present which was good because....  Saturday was the wedding!!And we went from super hot outside to rather chilly! It was great!! I busted out the maxi dress, long sleeved cardigan and a scarf. Which the latter I managed to somehow drag thru cupcake icing at the reception. Whoops. Despite the fact that I went to the WRONG CHURCH. I made it on time for the wedding, and it was beautiful! Shawn cried when Laura walked up the aisle, just like I knew he would! And I might have cried a little too. The vows man... The Vows ALWAY...

37/52 The Nephews come to visit!

Two weeks ago Snugglemuffin and Lovemuffin were here in IN, and we met up to go to JD Day At Purdue! The picture above puts a smile on my face everytime I see it! Lovemuffin was having some issues with his borrowed sunglasses from big brother. They didn't quit fit his face. But boy does he look cute in them!!  Despite his sunglass issues he was living his best life.  So I got a selfie stick because there is an extent to how far my arms can stretch when we're doing group pics. but it was super bright outside so none of us could see anything on my phone screen. So I snapped away hoping for a decent picture or two.  Meanwhile Snugglemuffin was making all of his faces.  And I had no clue. Story of my life!  Tried for a picture of the three of us and Lovemuffin is waving! HA! So cute!  Sweetest little nephew! He looks SOOOOOOOOOO much like my brother as a child in this pictures. Its crazy!! Right down to the JD hat :)  On the wa...

We start off this week's recap with a picture from the weekend that I forgot to add in! on the Friday of Labor Day weekend Emboz and I met up and went to the movies! I think this was the first time we have ever seen a movie in a theatre together in our 900 million year long friendship. We saw Crazy Rich Asians and I was so cute! Definitely a timeless rom-com! I think it's funny how we look like we are dressed for two different seasons. I'm full on Summer and Em is Winter.   I had a nice relaxing Labor Day weekend, spent mostly on my couch with Brenda Lee Johnson on the Closer. Thank you Amazon Prime for putting it back on! I love that show!! I was fighting a weather headache so all my plans of doing things and cleaning and organizing. none of them happen. Oh well!  Wednesday it was back to Adulting and teaching for me!  Thursday my new selfie stick came in the mail so of course i had to try it out. And I love it. I wish I had had it for my tr...

Well I am so behind on weekly wrap ups that I'm not entirely sure when this week was! I also failed at taking pictures this week. So maybe I was really busy? Who knows! I do know by this piano that this week I was at the nursing home I frequent! They had a special August Birthday celebration and I was the entertainment for it! We sang happy birthday and I busted out some of my new Titanic music!!! It was a miserable drive there, as my truck's ac wasn't working and it was in the 90's for temp, with heat indices in the 100's. ugh. Sweating doesn't begin to cover what I was doing!! Later that week I finally visited our new Ulta!! I had not been in an Ulta for several years, oh the sadness. And our town got one, last year? late last year? I finally went and it was what dreams are made of!! They had a huge clearance section and I made out like a bandit!! I think I got 9? products for 13.00!!!! WHOOO HOOO!! It was still blazingly hot outside...
